The Salehe Bembury x New Balance 574 Yurt “Shark Skin” is one of two outdoor-inspired colorways of the classic lifestyle shoe designed by Salehe Bembury in October 2021. In 2020, Bembury debuted his first collaboration with New Balance, the New Balance 2002R "Peace Be the Journey," an orange look inspired by his morning hikes and Arizona's Antelope Valley. The colorway was one of the most popular collaborations of 2021 , and in 2021, Bembury and New Balance released their second colorway, the 2002R "Water Be the Leader." Here, the 574 Yurt, a complete reissue of Bembury's classic 574 model, also takes on an outdoor look with a unique whistle on the heel , which promotes safety and survival while hiking.The base of the shoe is made of gray mesh.Tonal overlays of hairy suede in the color of sharkskin appear on the toe, midsection, collar and heel. A reflective "N" logo is located on both sides. Overall, the look combines elements of traditional New Balance models with modern styling. The New The Balance 574 was originally released in the 1980s as a trail running shoe, and Salehe Bembury's take on the model undoubtedly draws inspiration from its original purpose.
